Even, straight seams every time.
To sew straight seams, use a seam guide. When sewing seams, line your fabric edge up with the seam guide.
- A standard seam allowance is 1.5cm.
- You can make your own seam guide.
- Or buy a magnetic seam guide.

Try it!
☐ Use a tape measure to measure 1.5cm.
☐ Measure to the right, from the point of the needle.
☐ Place a piece of tape to show the 1.5cm mark.
Top tip: Getting your seams even and straight is really important. Seams that are too big or small can make your sewing look wonky, and even change the size of the garment.
